Bio-Rad Responds to Applied Biosystems Press Release
HERCULES, CA - September 2, 2005 - Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. (AMEX: BIO and BIOb), a multinational manufacturer and distributor of life science research products and clinical diagnostics, announced today that it is dismayed by Applied Biosystems (ABI) press release of September 1, 2005, concerning the Court's action in the MJ Research case. Bio-Rad believes it and ABI had reached a settlement of the litigation and this fact has been communicated to the Court by both parties. That settlement, together with Bio-Rad's existing license, ensure the continued supply of MJ products. Bio-Rad acquired MJ Research in August 2004 and at that time ABI and MJ Research were engaged in litigation related to MJ Research products.
